Blain Bertrand – Landscape Sales and Design / President
From years of experience in the landscape industry and an open mind, Blain, a K-State grad, has worked his way up from being a one man show to building the successful company that is Topeka Landscape.  With an eye for design and the knowledge that the possibilities truly are endless, he provides a new and fresh approach to bringing ideas to reality.

Blain has built Topeka Landscape on the ideas of hard work, honesty, and customer service.  His outlook on the landscape industry and building relationships has resulted in an innovative, solid, and successful company that continues to grow steadily each year.

Blain enjoys working out, traveling, and spending his weekends in the outdoors hunting, fishing, and camping with his son

Ray Ricklefs – Production Manager / Owner 
Ray was born and raised in Kansas. He graduated from Kansas State University with a degree in Architecture. He joined the team here at Topeka Landscape in the spring of 1996 and enjoys the many challenges offered by the landscape industry.

With as broad range of knowledge as possible and hands on experience in all aspects of installation, Ray has done it all when it comes to landscaping.  Today he coordinates and manages our crews to maintain efficiency in the production and installation of a wide range of jobs.  From large commercial projects to small landscapes and everything in between, Ray keeps the wheels of progress turning.

In his time outside of Topeka Landscape Ray enjoys mountain biking, hunting, and traveling with his wife to attend sporting events with their two children.

Andy Gilliland – Landscape Sales and Design / Owner 
After graduating from Kansas State University in 1996, Andy put his horticulture degree to work for a few years before starting with Topeka Landscape in 2000 to help out the quickly growing company.  From the beginning he demonstrated not only a strong commitment to his duties but a hard work ethic and a knack for the administrative and business side of the company.  Now, with over 15 years experience in the industry, Andy is one of the most qualified landscape representatives you’ll find in the area.

Andy also handles a large portion of our commercial work and prides himself on getting to know and strengthening relationships with other local construction professionals.

In his spare time Andy enjoys hunting, fishing, camping, and spending time outdoors with his family and friends.

Clint Summers – Landscape Sales and Design
Originally from Wichita, Clint has lived and worked in the Topeka area for the past 5 years.  He started at Topeka Landscape in the summer of 2008 and continues to stay up-to-date on all aspects of our industry by continuing education through Professional Landscape seminars and active work in the field.   Clint’s focus is primarily with residential landscape design but also works to solve drainage problems and provide irrigation system quotes.  Due to his reputation for attention to detail, not only is he excellent with customer service, but he is also in charge of a large portion of our marketing and image.  He contributes a lot of creativity to our advertising and website as well as handling most of what goes into the Topeka Landscape facebook page.

Along with spending quality time with his wife and four children going on walks, watching movies, and having pizza night, Clint enjoys staying active by running, hiking, and working out.

He can work within any budget to add visual appeal, value, and functionality to your homes outdoor spaces.

Barry Woodruff – Maintenance Sales
Growing up in a small town and working on a farm Barry has an appreciation for what nature has to offer.  A quick conversation with Barry and his over 20 years of landscape experience in a wide variety of areas, he is our maintenance sales person and can help with mowing, fertilizer programs, weed control, landscape maintenance, tree and shrub pruning and fertilizing. Whether it is a small residential or a large commercial project, he can help keep your property looking its best.

Barry enjoys playing sports with his kids, working out, and anything that keeps him active in the Topeka Area.

Erin Clarke – Landscape Designer
Erin was born and raised in Holton, KS.  She graduated in May 2008 from Kansas State University in Horticulture with a specialization in Landscape Design.  At KSU, she was a member of the Horticulture Club and competed in PLANET Career Days in Atlanta, GA.

Some of Erin’s interests are: cooking, being outside, spending time with her husband and son, as well as KSU football and basketball games.

Whether it’s the design and layout of a large commercial project or the finer details of a custom home landscape, Erin’s ability to efficiently put together visually appealing landscape plans amazes us all.

Scott Cole – Business Manager
Scott was born in Wichita, KS.  He followed his father's footsteps going to work for Southwestern Bell (now AT&T) after high school.  While there, he learned that small and medium sized businesses were a better fit and challenge for him.  He began working for Topeka Landscape in 2004 while attending Washburn University and after graduating became the Business Manager of Topeka Landscape, Inc.  His list of job duties are too long to list on this page but the constantly changing workload and variety of tasks to be completed in any given day fit well with his personality.

His other interests include family activities, KU Basketball games, golf, and working out.

Keith Coonrod – Field Supervisor
Keith started out attending KState with an emphasis in horticulture and has been working in the Manhattan/Topeka area every since.  With nearly 40 years of landscape experience in a wide variety of areas, Keith has the knowledge and eye for not only what will function correctly in a given situation but what will also be visually appealing when it’s completed.  Over the years Keith has played a vital role in the success of many projects from whole yard renovations that include patios, water features, and plantings to more intimate jobs including small backyard landscapes and walkways.

In his time away from Topeka Landscape, Keith enjoys spending time with his grandkids and working on his drag racing cars and street rods with his son.

Cliff Butterfield – Nursery Manager 
With a true green thumb, Cliff not only coordinates and maintains our nursery stock throughout the year; he supervises the growth and production of our locally grown trees.  He also is in charge of our safety meetings, equipment inventory, and helping to coordinate and deliver supplies to our crews.

Cliff has been in the landscape industry for 13 years and enjoys any conversation related to trees, shrubs, beards, or motorcycles.

When he’s not taking care of our plants Cliff enjoys spending time with his wife and kids at home together or at their sporting events.

Ben Shaffer – Maintenance Coordinator
Ben coordinates our fertilizer, bed maintenance and mowing crews for 300+ properties on a daily basis and maintains the face to face interaction with our client base regarding their property.  Topeka native and K-Sate graduate with a degree in Horticulture and an emphasis in Golf Course Management. Ben was the president of the K-state student chapter of the GCSAA and has 15+ years experience in turf management and leading crews to successfully take care of any and all of your landscape needs.

With his time outside of work Ben likes to hunt, golf, and spend time with his family.

Dave Hoover – Lead Irrigation Technician
With over 20 years experience in the landscape industry Dave is a seasoned veteran who has seen a lot in his career.  With a large portion of that time spent in irrigation, Dave has become an absolute expert at installing, maintaining, and repairing irrigation systems.  One of our most recognizable and frequently complimented employees, Dave goes above and beyond to not only be sure your system is running efficiently but to be sure you’re happy with it and any other landscaping related items at your home or business.

While Dave keeps extremely busy year round with his duties here at Topeka Landscape he has always found time to enjoy fishing, racing, and spending time with his wife and kids.
